Student Support

While MPA@UNC students attend classes and complete coursework online, they are fully participating members of the UNC community and receive the same dedicated and responsive support as on-campus students. Online MPA students will have access to the robust academic, professional, social, and personal guidance expected from a top-tier university.

During the admissions process, prospective students will have a dedicated admissions counselor who is available to answer questions—regarding application requirements, admissions standards, financial aid, etc.—and guide them through completing the application.

Upon admission into the program, students will be assigned an advisor who will meet with them one-on-one throughout their time in the program to discuss challenges, opportunities, and progress.

After enrollment, the Student Services team will provide technical assistance and help acclimate students to the online learning community. Students will have access to UNC library resources as well as networking and career services tools.

While students earn their degree, they can ask faculty for personal assistance and extra guidance during face-to-face, online office hours. An experienced career services team will assist them in their job search.

When the program is complete, students will be invited to participate in the UNC School of Government’s on-campus graduation ceremony and UNC-Chapel Hill’s graduation ceremony alongside classmates from both on-campus and online.

After graduation, students will join the School of Government MPA Alumni Association and UNC’s global alumni network. This will give them ongoing access to professional connections, valuable career resources, and event updates.
