PUBA 721: Professional Communication
Credit Hours: 3
What is the process for making a request for funding or for a policy to be adopted? How should an applicant create their resume and cover letter so that they are seen as the ideal job candidate? When an individual encounters someone at a networking event, are they prepared with an “elevator speech” about their skills and experience or about a project they would like to move forward? How does an employee craft a memo to their supervisor about a project they have overseen?
Public service leaders are asked to deliver accurate information to the appropriate audience in the suitable format in a timely manner. This requires a set of skills that should be practiced and honed over time.
Projects and assignments are grounded in real world situations. This course helps the student present himself as a professional primed for career advancement.
